"The Future of Criminal Law?"

2014 Annual Conference, The Robina Institute of
Criminal Law and Criminal Justice

April 24-26, University of Minnesota Law School

The conference will begin with a public forum Thursday, April 24, at which leading criminal law theorists, practitioners, and policy-makers will discuss what each believes is the most important reform we should pursue to the criminal law or the criminal process.

On Friday and Saturday, April 25-26, there will be a smaller intensive workshop. We are soliciting paper submissions for this workshop. Each paper should argue for a single crucial reform to the criminal law or the criminal process (the 2013 Robina Conference dealt with sentencing and punishment, so we will not include papers on these topics in the 2014 conference). We will pre-circulate workshop papers to all participants. Each paper will have a commentator, but the focus will be on wider discussion among all the participants.

The Robina Institute will cover conference costs, including accommodation, for those whose papers are accepted. It also has limited funds to help with travel costs for those who cannot obtain funding elsewhere.

Paper deadline is Sept. 30, 2013, and we will make acceptance decisions by late November. Papers must be no longer than 6,000 words, including references and notes, and should be prepared for blind review. Also, please include an abstract of no more than 300 words. Please submit papers [email protected], with the subject line “Robina 2014 Annual Conference submission.”
