Beauté | 21 new products in my life

Querida Sofia,

Aproveitei a viagem a Cape Town (e uma visitinha a uma Farmácia de Angola em Viana) para refazer o meu stock de produtos de beleza do ano. Normalmente, é uma compra que faço em Nova Iorque, mas Angola está em crise e este ano não há NY para mim. Então aqui vai o que consegui comprar, começando ao meio-dia e no sentido dos ponteiros de um relógio:

Dear Sophie,

I took the opportunity to buy a little stash of beauty products during my trip to Cape Town and in my last spree at Farmácias de Angola. I usually buy my beauty products in NYC, but as Angola is in a severe foreign currency crisis, I am not heading there in 2015. So here is what I was able to buy, starting from noon clockwise:

1 - Moroccanoil Treatment: comprei este óleo para o cabelo em 2013 e nunca usei. De repente, usei na viagem à Cidade do Cabo e desde então, nunca mais parei, apenas alterno com o Óleo orgânico de Argan da Dr. Organics que comprei no Celeiro de Luanda. Deixei de usar cremes no meu cabelo há anos (só uso se o cabelo estiver a precisar de desfriso) e adoro usar óleos. O meu cabelo tem um ar menos pastoso e mais saudável. E o cheiro deste óleo... dá-me quase vontade de comer o meu cabelo. I bought this oil for my hair in 2013, but never cared to use it. Out of the blue, I decided to start to use it now in Cape Town and have not stopped since. I only alternate its use with the organic Argan serum from Dr. Organics that I bought at Celeiro de Luanda. I have stopped using creams on my hair (except in dire circumstances, when I am about to relax my hair) and I love just using oils on it. It looks less liveless and much healthier.

2 - Eye Lash Curler - The Body Shop: nunca usei um na vida, então ainda não tenho opinião. Have never used one in my life so I still have no formed opinion.

3 - Tea Tree Oil Squeaky-Clean Scrub - The Body Shop: ainda não usei este exfoliante facial. Mas adoro coleccionar tudo o que seja da gama Tea Tree da TBS, então tive de trazer para casa. I still have not used this facial scrub. But I like everything I buy from the Tea Tree collection at TBS, so I had to bring this one home.

4 - Black Eyeliner - The Body Shop: um dos meus produtos preferidos no mundo da maquilhagem! One of my favourite products in the make-up department!

5 - Moisturising Nail Polish Remover - Cutex: não uso muito verniz nas unhas - eu sei, que mau, que descuidada sou! -, por isso não consumo muita acetona. Mas a Cutex continua a ser a minha marca preferida. I do not use much nailpolish - I know right? I am so careless... - hence not using much nail polish remover. But Cutex is still my favourite brand.

6 - Physiological Ultra-Fine Scrub - La Roche Posay: ainda não usei, mas sou tão viciada na La Roche Posay que estou deserta de testar e ver se deixa a minha pele finalmente limpa. I still have not used it, but I am so hooked on La Roche Posay products... I am eager to try this one out and check it my face is finally really clean and fresh after use!

7 - Purifying Micellar Water - Aderma: se pudesse comprar todas as águas micelares do mundo, compraria. Tenho um da Bioderma (que comprei em Singapura) e um da La Roche Posay que estão quase a chegar ao fim, então este aqui será para usar logo de seguida. Gosto de ir sempre variando as marcas destas águas, pois uso muito (de manhã e de noite, religiosamente). If I could buy all the Micellar waters in the world, I would. I have one by Bioderma (that I bought in Singapore) and one by La Roche Posay that are close to ending, so I know I will start using this one just after I finish the first two. I like to switch micellar waters, because I really use it a lot (morning and evening, religiously).

8 - Organic Cotton Pads - The Body Shop: comecei a usar algodão orgânico para me desmaquilhar desde 2010, graças ao livro da Mónica Lice. No entanto, nunca encontro este tipo de algodão em Luanda, então carrego as baterias quando estou fora. Só há um pacote nesta foto, mas há mais em casa. I started using organic cotton pads to remove my make-up since 2010, thanks to Mónica Lice's book. Notwithstanding, I have never found this kind of pads in Luanda, so I need to stock up when abroad. There is only a pack in this picture, but believe me: there is much more at home.

9 - Vitamin E Cool BB Cream - The Body Shop: comecei a usar em Cape Town e adoro. Permite homogeneizar o tom da pele, cobrir algumas imperfeições e hidrata ao mesmo tempo. Comprei várias embalagens e uso muito pouco por dia, para ter a certeza que me vai durar bastante tempo. I started using this product in Cape Town and I absolutely adore it. It evens my skin tone, covers a few imperfections and moisturizes it to top it off! I bought several tubes and have been using it sparingly because I just do not want it to end.

10 - Tea Tree Cleasing Wipes - The Body Shop: como disse acima, gosto muito desta gama e estas lingettes para limpar a cara são uma maravilha. Tenho alguns pacotes a partilhar a casa neste momento comigo. As aforementioned, I love this collection and these wipes are marvellous. A few packs currently share a room with me.

11 e 12 - Wild Argan Oil Shower Gel, 50mL & 750 mL - The Body Shop: primeiro comprei a mini dose para usar durante a viagem. Nunca fiquei tão fascinada por um cheiro e TINHA de comprar mais. E a TBS tem um tamanho giga que tive de trazer para Luanda. Ainda não abri, pois estou a poupar. Mas de vez em quando abro a embalagem só para cheirar de novo, encanta-me. Firstly, I bought the small bottle just for my trip but then... I was never as mesmerized by a scent before and was eager to buy more to bring to Luanda. Therefore I bought the big bottle. I have not opened it yet, but sometimes I go around just to "sniff" the perfume. Hooked!

13 - Eau de Parfum Chloe: comecei a usar este perfume em 2012 e já renovei a dose umas três vezes. Sou completamente fã. I started using this perfume in 2012 and have since rebought it three times. I am an absolute fan.

14 - Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Oil Free Powder - Clinique: comecei a usar depois de conhecer a Angel da Clinique da Saks Avenue e acabou recentemente pois usava quase todos os dias. O meu tom é o Stay Golden (M). I started using this one after meeting Angel at Clinique from Saks Avenue. I used it daily, so it eventually ended. My skin tone is Stay Golden (M).

15 - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Geral - Clinique (unpictured): comprei junto com o produto anterior na Edgars no V & A Waterfront (Cape Town), mas está numa trousse de toilette, por isso ficou fora da foto. Comprei este produto o ano passado em Nova Iorque e passei a usar frequentemente. Seca a pele e as borbulhas mais persistentes. No entanto, não faz nada no que toca a cicatrizes de acne. I bought this one at Edgars at V & A Waterfront (Cape Town) with the previous item. It is currently in a trousse de toilette, so I kept it unpictured. I bought this product last year in NYC and I love it. It really dries your skin when you most need it, but it does nothing for my acne scars.

16 - The Radiant Argan Oil for Body and Hair - The Body Shop: ainda não usei. Still have not used it yet.

17 - Argan Oil Body Rough Scrub - The Body Shop: desta vez, um esfoliante para o corpo. Falando nisso, tenho de usar esta noite... this one is a body scrub. Which reminds me, I need to use it tonight.

18 - Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil - The Body Shop: estão a ver aquelas actrizes famosas que têm as pernas brilhantes quando usam aqueles maravilhosos vestidos curtos quando andam num tapete vermelho? Bref, essa pessoa não sou eu. Mas acho que esse produto me poderá ajudar para um par de casamentos que tenho para muito breve, visto eu nunca bronzear naturalmente. You know when those Hollywood superstars walk down the red carpet with their short dresses and their legs are just shining bright like diamonds? Yeah, that's not me. But I am hopeful this product will help me function through some weddings I have in the upcoming weeks, because I am not the one to tan naturally.

19 - Handmade Soaps - Antjies: comprei estes sabonetes artisanais do Watershed no Waterfront em Cape Town, um espaço enorme onde podemos ver e comprar produtos 100% nacionais, desde marroquineria a bijuteria, artesanato e roupas. Estes sabões têm cheiros maravilhosos e são feitos com óleos naturais. Se não me engano, os que comprei são de rose geranium, honeybush e neroli. I bought these handmade soaps at Watershed by Cape Town's Waterfront. This venue is a massive former wearhouse where 100% locally made leather good, crafts, jewelry and clothing can be seen and bought. These soaps have a marvellous scents and are made with natural oils. If I am not mistaken, I bought the rose geranium, honeybush and neroli ones.

20 - Strawberry Gel Polish - The Body Shop: comprei este produto numa versão mini no aeroporto O. R. Tambo em Johannesburg, a caminho de Maputo o ano passado. Não esfolia de maneira agressiva e cheira mesmo muito bem. I first bought this product in a mini package at the O. R. Tambo airport in Johannesburg while on my way to Maputo last year. It scrubs one's skin softly and the scent is divine.

21 - Fuji Green Tea Body Sorbet - The Body Shop: por vezes compro as coisas somente por gostar da embalagem (hey Benefit!), isto porque a marketeer em mim nunca dorme. E desta vez, confesso que... comprei o produto pelo nome. Sorbet para o corpo? SORBET? Ainda não experimentei, mas se for algo de tão dívino quanto o nome, dir-te-ei! Sometimes I buy items because I like the package (Hey Benefit!) because the Marketing afficcionado in me never falls asleep. But this time, I have to confess I surrendered to... A NAME! Body sorbet? SORBET? I have not tried it yet, but if it is as delicious as it sounds, I will let you know.
